Partnerships

Alongside our strategic partners, we are aiming to simplify the system for all potential beneficiaries, including residents, employers, support providers and referral partners.
South Yorkshire’s Pathways to Work initiative is led by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). SYMCA has developed a programme of activity in partnership with the local authorities in Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, and NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.
Our collective goal is to ensure everyone across the region can access the support they need to find and sustain good employment. This includes some regional activity to complement localised projects available to Sheffield residents.
Local partnerships
In Sheffield, we have a long history of close partnership work between the local authority and the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector (VCFSE).
We are proud to offer specialist support, close to home, for residents who are out of work and experiencing barriers to the job market.
Opportunity Sheffield has commissioned multiple Pathways to Work projects across the city. We’re working with the VCFSE and other specialist service providers to provide a ‘city of open doors’, where residents have many different access points to register for support or triage.
Our many years of delivering employment support in Sheffield tells us a community-based approach is a successful way to find and support people who have fallen out of work or have never had a job.
This is why we provide employment support that is easily accessible, in trusted and welcoming neighbourhood venues.
