We want Sheffield to be a city where employment and skills enable people from all backgrounds and communities to prosper, and live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Working alongside a range of major institutions in the city, we have developed a fresh vision for employment and skills in Sheffield.

Published in 2025, this 10-year strategic plan will:

  • enable and accelerate good economic growth, increase equity and fairness, and develop skills for a sustainable future
  • underpin a high-performing employment and skills system which fosters growth, optimises talent and tackles inequality
  • enable partners across the city, both individually and collaboratively, to deliver support we know works, and test and learn from new approaches
  • provide an agile, city-level response to global, national and local drivers and the emerging policy context within employment and skills
  • ensure support is targeted where it will have the greatest impact
