Sheffield’s Pathways to Work employment support projects go live
A series of 12-month employment support projects focused on supporting out-of-work residents have gone live in Sheffield this week, as part of South Yorkshire’s new Pathways to Work system.
Opportunity Sheffield will fund 15 projects following the initial round of local procurement. These will span the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise, as well as the private sector.
Providers will deliver activity which contributes to the Department for Work and Pensions’ Economic Inactivity Trailblazer, as well as South Yorkshire’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund People and Skills programme, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The Council’s Employment and Skills Service has commissioned a combination of the following location-based and specialist providers to support these projects.

- Central North – REED in Partnership
- Central West – Zest
- Central South – The Growth Company
Specialist providers

- Ethnic minorities – Sharrow Community Forum
- Ethnic minorities – Equal Communities
- Ethnic minorities – Infinite Skills
- Ethnic minorities – Firvale Community Hub
- Autism and learning difficulties – Autism Plus
- Physical disabilities – Down2u Health and Wellbeing
- IPS for vulnerable groups – Depaul UK
- Ex-offenders – Manor and Castle Development Trust
- Refugees and asylum seekers – Voluntary Action Sheffield
Additional procurement opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks, including additional location-based projects and wraparound provision for participants who are supported on Pathways to Work.
Economically inactive and unemployed residents who are aged 16+, live in Sheffield and have the right to live and work in the UK are eligible for out-of-work support.
